Hi Python Software Foundation legal team, It's come to the attention of members of the open source community that pynose[1] is in violation of the LGPL and cannot be distributed. https://github.com/mdmintz/pynose/issues/16 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2296426 https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/325669 This package removes all git history, and specifies the creator of the fork as the author instead. It also switches from the LGPL-2.1-only license to the MIT license, which is problematic. At least one significant contributor to the original nose project has protested against this change; it is not just bystanders that are worried about this blatant copyright violation. We are continuing to work with the creator of the fork in an attempt to remedy the situation, however it does not appear that we will come to an agreement any time soon. PyPI doesn't have the right to redistribute this software, and this seems to be the appropriate mechanism under PEP-451 to make you aware of the issue. Please remove pynose from the index and take any necessary actions to prevent further distribution of this package. Please let me know if there's another mechanism that should be used to report issues like this, or if there is any other action that I can take to officially notify the Python Software Foundation of similar issues. Regards, Matt Jolly Gentoo Linux Developer [1]: https://pypi.org/project/pynose/
